Meet the Trustees

Have you ever wondered who's responsible for running your pension plan, and what their role involves?
Like many others, your plan is run by a Board of Trustee Directors.
Our responsibilities include overseeing the administration of the Plan, setting its investment strategy, and publishing an annual report including the Plan’s accounts. We have to make sure the Plan is run according to its Trust Deed and Rules and relevant pensions legislation, and that the right benefits are calculated and paid when members leave the Plan, retire, or die.
This can include deciding who gets paid certain benefits when a member dies. We also have to report certain matters to The Pensions Regulator. It’s a busy job – we’re looking after hundreds of millions of pounds for the benefit of thousands of people.
It takes a lot of time and thought, so it’s great to know there’s a good mix of knowledge and skills across the Board to do this important work. Some of us are appointed by the Company, while others are nominated by you, the members. Because the task is such a big one, some aspects are delegated to sub-committees. And we have a team of expert advisers to help with everything from legal matters to member communications.
The Pensions Regulator also requires that trustees receive training to equip them for their role. If you’d like to know more about what we do and how we do it, why not listen to our Trustee podcasts?
You’ll find them in the “Latest news” section of our website. We hope this gives you some insight into the role of the Trustee Board who are working hard for your benefit so that you can look forward to your future.
